Sales is the one function where nobody accepts vague claims, because every hiring manager has a dashboard. A sales resume without quota attainment reads like an admission.
The five numbers every sales resume needs
- Quota attainment — '118% of a ₹2.4 crore annual target'
- Absolute revenue — what you closed, per year
- Deal size — average ticket, and the largest you closed
- Cycle length — 'shortened average close from 74 to 52 days'
- Retention or repeat — renewal rate, upsell revenue, churn
Attainment beats absolute revenue
₹1 crore closed means nothing without the target beside it. 112% of quota in a hard territory is more impressive than 80% of a soft one, and managers know the difference. Always pair the number with the target and, where it helps, the ranking: 'ranked 3rd of 26 in the region'.
Responsible for generating new business and maintaining relationships with existing clients in the assigned territory.
Closed ₹3.1 crore against a ₹2.6 crore target (119%) across Maharashtra SMB; grew the account base from 34 to 61 and lifted renewals from 71% to 88%.
Name the motion you know
Sales skills transfer within a motion and badly across motions. State yours explicitly, because a hiring manager is screening for exactly it: field vs inside, B2B vs B2C, SMB vs mid-market vs enterprise, inbound vs outbound, new logo vs account management, and the sales cycle length you're used to.
Tools, briefly
Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, LeadSquared, Lusha, LinkedIn Sales Navigator. One line. In sales these are hygiene, not differentiators — the numbers above carry the resume.
If your last year was bad
Markets collapse, territories get re-cut, products get discontinued. Give the context in half a sentence and move to what you did control: pipeline built, new logos opened, a process you fixed. 'Territory re-cut in Q2 (−40% accounts); still delivered 94% of the revised target' is honest and reads as resilient rather than defensive.
