Marketing resumes fail in two directions: too vague ('managed social media presence') or too credit-grabbing ('grew revenue 300%'). The credible middle names the channel you owned, the budget you controlled, and the metric you moved.
Say what you owned, at what spend
Budget responsibility is the fastest seniority signal in marketing. '₹18 lakh/month across Google and Meta' tells a hiring manager your level before they read anything else.
Handled digital marketing campaigns across various platforms and improved online presence.
Owned paid acquisition (₹18L/month, Google + Meta) for a D2C skincare brand; cut blended CAC from ₹740 to ₹520 over two quarters while scaling spend 2.3×.
Metrics by channel
- Performance — CAC, ROAS, CTR, CPM, conversion rate, spend scaled
- SEO — non-brand organic sessions, ranking keywords, pages indexed, backlinks earned
- Content — publishing cadence, organic traffic, assisted conversions, time on page
- Email/CRM — list growth, open and click rates, revenue per send, churn
- Social — engagement rate and follower growth, but only alongside a business metric
Scaling while holding efficiency is the real achievement
Anyone can lower CAC by cutting spend, and anyone can scale spend by accepting worse CAC. Doing both at once is hard, and saying so explicitly separates you from most applicants.
Don't claim the whole funnel
Experienced marketing managers are suspicious of candidates who claim revenue outcomes they couldn't have owned alone. Attribute honestly: 'contributed to', 'as part of a 4-person growth team'. It reads as senior, not modest.
Tools that matter in Indian marketing teams
GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, Search Console, Ahrefs or Semrush, HubSpot or WebEngage or MoEngage, Looker Studio. Name the ones you've built something in, and mention if you can write your own SQL or build your own dashboards — that's rarer than it should be.
