Support experience is easy to under-sell because the work is repetitive by design. The resume that moves you from a BPO floor to a product company's support team looks different from the one that got you the BPO job.

The support metrics

  • Volume — tickets, calls or chats handled per day, and concurrency for chat
  • CSAT / NPS — your score against the team average
  • First-contact resolution — the number that separates good agents from fast ones
  • Average handling and response time — with the SLA you were held to
  • Quality audit scores — if your process had them

Show the average you beat

'CSAT 4.7/5' is fine. 'CSAT 4.7/5 against a team average of 4.2, over 14 months and ~2,900 tickets' is evidence. Volume plus duration is what makes a score believable.

Weak

Handled customer queries over calls and emails and maintained good customer satisfaction.

Stronger

Handled ~60 chats/day (3 concurrent) for a fintech app; CSAT 4.7 vs 4.2 team average, first-contact resolution 82%, and wrote 40 help-centre articles that cut repeat 'where is my refund' tickets by a fifth.

Moving from voice/BPO to product support

Product companies screen for three things a BPO CV usually hides: written English quality, technical troubleshooting, and initiative beyond the script. Surface all three.

  • Writing — help articles, macros, templates you authored
  • Technical — log reading, API basics, SQL queries run, browser dev tools, escalation triage
  • Initiative — a process you changed, a bug you caught, training you delivered to new joiners

Tools worth naming

Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom, Salesforce Service Cloud, Jira Service Management, LiveChat, Ozonetel/Exotel for voice. Note if you've configured macros, automations or workflows rather than only using them.

Shifts and languages

Willingness to work rotational or US shifts, and the languages you can support in, are genuine hiring criteria in India. Put them on the resume — they're often the reason one candidate is picked over an equal one.
